Strong’s Concordance: H1847
Hebrew Letters: דעת (Dalet-Ayin-Taw).
Part of speech: Feminine Noun
Definition: Knowledge. Knowing, learning, discernment, insight, and notion. This word occurs 40 times in Proverbs as one of many words associated with the biblical concept of wisdom (Proverbs 24:3-4). It also describes the Israelites when they lacked the proper knowledge to please Elohim (Isaiah 5:13). Elohim holds unbelievers and believers responsible “to know” Him (Hosea 4:6). The word is used in the sense of knowing by experience, relationship, or by encounter (Numbers 24:16). This is also the forbidden knowledge in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 2:9).
