Definition: To be set apart. A holy thing, holiness and sacredness (1 Peter 1:15-16). This word indicates something set aside for sacred use only; it was not to be put into common use, if it was, it would become profaned and common, and not set apart. Some of the offerings of Yahuah were described as Most Holy (Leviticus 2:3). Only qodesh priests could go into the temple (2 Chronicles 23:6). Many vessels and items in the Tabernacle and Temple areas were qodesh (Exodus 30:32-35). This word also describes divine holiness (Psalm 89:35).
